BLS Provider of the Year: FF/EMT Jay Heinzen
FF/EMT Jay Heinzen has been an integral part of the department since joining in 2022. Known for his unwavering dependability and eagerness to learn, Jay continually expands his skill set—most recently completing an advanced EMT program. In addition to his emergency response duties, he plays a key role in training others, teaching CPR, Stop the Bleed, and other lifesaving courses. Jay’s positive attitude and strong work ethic make him a valued team member, and we look forward to his continued growth.

FF/Paramedic John Buffington has dedicated years to West End Fire Co. #3, balancing his full-time career with his commitment to our department. In 2023, he played a crucial role in developing the Field Training Officer (FTO) program, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with newer paramedics. John is admired not only for his clinical expertise but also for his mentorship, patience, and unwavering support for his colleagues. His resilience and leadership make a lasting impact on our team.

For two decades, FF/Medic Bryan Colket has remained a dedicated member of West End Fire Co. #3, witnessing and contributing to its growth. Known for his commitment to clinical excellence and his ability to bring humor into the station, Bryan continues to set a high standard for service. Even during downtime, he remains focused on professional development, staying up to date with advancements in emergency medicine.
